How It Works

Determine Eligibility

A five-minute consultation will identify if prescription medication or cancer screening is right for you.

Collect Sample

A simple non-invasive cheek swab is all that’s necessary to perform the tests.

Physician Review

A licensed physician will review your information and order the tests if you qualify.

Receive Results

In 8-10 weeks you and your physician will receive a copy of your test results to review.

85% of the population are at an increased risk for adverse medication reactions¹

Drug Interaction Screening

This DNA screening looks at the variants in your genetic profile to help your healthcare provider determine which medications will offer you the most effective treatment and reduce your potential for side effects and drug interactions.

More than 1 in 3 people will be diagnosed with an invasive cancer in their lifetime²

Cancer Risk Screening

Also known as Hereditary Cancer Screening, CGx helps determine if your DNA contains genetic markers that are associated with certain cancers. The results of this screening can assist your healthcare provider with preventative measures and early detection, if needed.

This test could even benefit additional family members since your genetic makeup is inherited.

ScreenTec Health Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I qualify?

Our Care Team Member will ask you a few questions about your current medications, family health history and insurance to determine if you may be pre-qualified for PGx and/or CGx Screening.

ScreenTec Health’s services accepts multiple insurance carriers such as Medicare and Medicaid, which provide these tests at no cost to you.

How does ScreenTec Health protect my personal information?

All ScreenTec Health Care Team Members are HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) certified to ensure the privacy and security of each patient’s health information.

Additionally, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulate laboratory testing. We work only with labs that have obtained a CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) certification through CMS.

How will genetic screening benefit me?

Although each test has its own benefits, the greatest benefit of genetic screening is the information it provides you and your doctor to be proactive about your health.

Genetic screening offers insight into your body’s DNA makeup allowing you and your doctor to take preventative action when necessary. Some of the insight you gain could even benefit additional family members since your genetic makeup is hereditary.

How long will the test take?

A ScreenTec Care Team Member will help you complete the form for insurance approvals, which typically takes about 10 minutes, then collect a swab from your cheek. It’s simple and non-invasive.

Will I be billed by my insurance company?

PGx and CGx screenings are available at no cost to the patient, for qualifying individuals, under most insurance plans such as Medicare and Medicaid.

How is the test administered?

The genetic tests offered are administered using a simple cheek swab, which is then sealed, labeled, and securely transported to a certified lab for processing.

How long until I receive my test results?

After your test reaches the lab, processing takes approximately 2-3 weeks. Results are sent directly from the lab to both you and your primary physician.

What does it mean if I have a positive result on the CGx test?

If your CGx test produces a positive result, that means you have a higher likelihood of developing cancer (at some point) than the average person. However, this does not mean you are guaranteed to develop cancer at some point in your life.

If you have a positive result, you and your primary physician can put together an appropriate plan for early detection and prevention.
